Jazz Inside Magazine's March 2010 feature the character theme of Humility – gathers the perspectives of 7 artists on how humility helps or hinders their pursuit of greatness in life and career, and whether humility is something they have had to learn or develop. The humble group includes Lynne Arriale (piano), Wayne Escoffery (sax), Pete Zimmer (drums), John Stein (guitar), Gilad Hekelsman (guitar) and Eric Harland (drums)
 
This issue features our Guitar Lovers Celebration. In addition to Pat Metheny, you’ll get up close and personal and inside the music and the minds of Charlie Apicella, Terence Brewer, Diego Barber, Mimi Fox, Tom Hemby, Torben Waldorff, Assaf Kehati and Mark Lambert.

Artist interviews in the March issue of Jazz Inside’s monthly include David Berger talking about his new project involving newly discovered works of the great composer Harry Warren. John Pizzarelli discusses his new album, a tribute to Duke Ellington. Other artist interviews include saxophonist Bobby Lavell, Oscar Feldman, Mike Holober, who will be debuting his new suite in concert with the Westchester Jazz Orchestra in April. Billy Joel trumpeter Carl Fischer shares his ideas about careers, performance and music education.

The CD Spotlight section highlights releases by David Berger Jazz Orchestra, Jerry Bergonzi, Gerald Clayton, Burton Greene, John Irabagon, Hot Club of Philly, Carolyn Leonhart and Wayne Escoffery, Nilson Matta, Gia Notte and Houston Person.

Jazz Inside’s Bi-Monthly Jazz Education Workshop includes an incisive feature by guitarist Chuck Anderson, “On Practice”, Dariusz Terefenko “Just One of Those Things” on improvisation, Dave Miele on “Philly Joe Jones: Oleo”, Dimitry Ekshtut on “Intermediate Guitar Harmony”, Eric Nemeyer on “Suggestions and Starting Points for Beginning Improvisers”, and a “Repertoire Checklist - More Than 100 Essential Jazz and Standard Songs, Selected Repertoire For Jazz Lovers Who Listen and or Play” including albums on which performances of these songs may be found.

In March, an array of New England Conservatory alumni and faculty will be presenting performances throughout the New York area. In “40 Years of Jazz at New England Conservatory”, program founder Gunther Schuller, along with faculty members Hankus Netsky and Ken Schaphorst, among others give us the inside scoop on this highly regarded institution.
